The Marina has the Mr. Marina contest, which raises money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Should the Lower Haight have its own neighborhood cause?

Reader Kaila C. writes in with the suggestion that we pull together and do some good.

"The Mr. Marina competition is upon us. Although the competition makes me gag a little, I still get jealous that the Marina gets together as a neighborhood and contributes to a cause... I'm not sold on a Mr. Lower Haight competition being our neighborhood style. However, I could imagine something like a chili cook-off for charity."
