Alamo Square Market & Deli For SaleGoogle Maps
Sad news for Scott Street sandwich lovers.

Alamo Square Market & Deli, which bills itself as the "best corner store in the middle of the block," is for sale. The shop at 535 Scott Street between Fell and Hayes has been in business since around 2004, but owner Eric Zighera has decided it's time to call it quits. "I have been working a full-time job since October and its become too much," Eric told us via email yesterday. "Ten years have passed and the neighborhood has been very good to us... Tell everyone we will be open for the near future and with hope, any new owners will keep up the good work." A listing for the property describes it as a very clean "petite, local store" with negotiable inventory. It's being offered for $195,000, with a Chevrolet Cargo Van thrown into the mix. Of course there's no word on whether a new owner would keep the business as-is, so go get yourself one of their excellent sandwiches while you still can. Update: Just to clarify, the market is for sale, but there are currently no plans for it to close.
