Best F'ing Flower Shop: the Floral Loft
Is it NoPa? Is it Western Addition? Is it the periphery of the Haight? We don't know, but we have to tell you: it's the best f'ing flower shop in walking distance. Read on!

We discovered The Flower Loft last weekend on a walk into the neighborhood, and we were captivated by the storefront full of flower buckets. We had to know more. So we stopped in and found out. And we'll stand by it that this is the best flower shop around. (We know, we know: Gus's and Whole Foods. We love them, and their ready-made bouquets are okay for that last minute, sorry-I-threw-up-on-your-couch-last-night gift, but we mean a REAL florist.)
The Flower Loft, owned by Jason Gonzalez and Courtney Sayner, has been at 1871 Hayes (at Ashbury) since the fall of 2011. It started with a focus on flowers and blooming plants, like orchids, and has since branched into terrariums and paper flower arrangements. Jason (former teacher) and Courtney (florist from around the way and ex-ski bum), most lately of south Boston, have been in the city and making flower arrangements for the past two years. All their flower sources are, of course, organic and/or locally grown. As if we even had to tell you.
Asked about the vision for the store, Jason told us (accurately, we think) the focus is to provide "rustic charm in a big city," with an assortment of odds and ends and an aesthetic that's "barnyard/roadside fresh." The core of their business is wedding arrangements, but they also deliver anywhere in San Francisco (just give them a day's notice or so). And they'll make paper flowers out of your favorite book. Need we say more?
