SF is packed with a cadre of unusual and one-of-a-kind events to check out this weekend from the annual SF Street Food Fest running both Saturday and Sunday in the Mission to the eighth installment of 2013's Sunday Streets in the burgeoning Tenderloin-meets-Tech-Town around Civic Center. The Castro is, as always, chock full of great things to see and do. Here are a few of our favorites happening in the hood. Friday, Aug. 16th head over to the Castro Theatre for the latest presentation of Midnite for Maniacs hosted by Jesse Hawthorne Ficks, the ongoing series of movie double bills guaranteed to pack a punch. For the price one $12 ticket starting at 7PM 1984's, 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom', starring Kate Capshaw and Harrison Ford recreating his iconic Prof. Jones role for the second time. That's followed at 9:30PM by the 25th anniversary showing of the horror fave, 'Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn'. This 1987 American comedy/horror film directed by Sam Raimi is a sequel to 1981's, 'The Evil Dead'. It stars the funny and super sexy Bruce Campbell. Rounding out the bill, and in a first for the series, attendees are invited to 'theatre crawl' over to the Roxie Theatre in the Mission for the 11:45PM showing of the 1982 Euro slasher thriller, ‘Tenebre’. Entry is only $5 with your Castro ticket stub. This movie was originally banned in the UK and severely altered by US censors. Tonights print is the original film as it was meant to be seen. Murder, mayhem and starring 60's/70's heart throbs Anthony Franciosa and John Saxon.
