Yes, rental prices are officially insane in the Lower Haight, just like they are all over the city these days. But what if you're looking to buy a place here in the neighborhood? Do you have a prayer? In fact, you do not.

Curbed brings word of this charming 5-bedroom house at 627 Waller, between Pierce and Carmelita. On October 16th, it was listed for $2.995 million. That alone would have made it the priciest single-family home sale in the Lower Haight in at least three years, according to Redfin. It was on the market for a week, and then it sold for $3.5 million. Which is $505,000 over asking. And apparently the buyer paid in cash. Happy Twitter I.P.O. eve!
