After closing for renovations back in August 2013, Oasis Café, located on the corner of McAllister and Divisadero, is back in business as of this month.

Owner Haile Taddesse decided to shut the place down in order to gut and rebuild its kitchen, making it significantly bigger. The space inside is simple yet clean, with lots of room to either do work or enjoy some food and a beverage. They even have some outside tables, so if you have the notion, you can sit in the sun and e-brag to your friends in the Midwest about our 70-degree weather. Along with the new digs, Oasis now proudly serves authentic Ethiopian and Eritrean cuisine, along with traditional coffee shop/café fare (breakfast, sandwiches, soups, salads etc). Additionally, they have several beers on taps and offer a selection of wines. Taddesse, Eritrean-born and raised in Ethiopia, has owned restaurants in both of these countries as well as Kenya. When we popped in, he assured us that the food was of the utmost authenticity. You can preview their new menu, here and here. Oasis Café is open 7 days a week, from 6am to 11pm.
