As of Friday, May 9, there's now another bike rental option on Haight Street.
The newest addition to the Haight's offering of near-park bike rentals is Bay City Bike, located in the former Hoodlab storefront at 1669 Haight. (The Denver-based art gallery and natural hemp sweatshirt company has since departed.)

Sure, bike rentals may be mostly for tourists, but what better way to show your visiting friends or parents around town (insert mandatory Mother's Day reminder to call your mom here).

Bay City is already established in the city with four other locations, all between Fisherman's Wharf and North Beach. At Bay City, you can get an array of bikes—including tandems—at a day rental rate between $32 and $78.

If you're shopping around for a rental bike deal, keep in mind that locations for bike rental in the Haight are now as follows:

  • Avenue Cyclery, at 756 Stanyan ($30/day)
  • Golden Gate Tours & Bike Rentals, at 1816 Haight ($24/day with online discount)
  • Bay City Bike, at 1669 Haight ($25/day opening special)
  • Parkwide Bike Rentals, at the Stanyan entrance to Golden Gate Park ($36/day)

Time will tell if there's enough demand for an extra bike rental on Haight Street, but in the meantime, happy riding.
