Korean Fusion Restaurant To Replace Greenburger'sPhoto: Andrew Dudley / Hoodline
We have some more details on the forthcoming restaurant planned for the now-vacant space at 518 Haight Street.

Back in May, when we learned that Greenburger's would be closing, we also got wind that the location's future occupant would be Sun Hee Lee, who runs Nara Sushi on Polk Street. Naturally, we wondered whether Lee was planning to bring a fourth sushi restaurant to this two-block stretch of Haight Street, joining Sushi 509, Sushi Raw, and Raijin Sushi.  But we were told that no, Lee would not be opening a sushi restaurant.

As it turns out, that was only half true.

Today Lee tells us that the plan is for a fusion concept offering both sushi and Korean food. There will be imported sake, beer, and wine.  And as with the Polk Street location, this restaurant will be called Nara.

Lee has now started the hiring process and is pursuing permits to revamp the space, including the creation of a new bar and service area within the current dining room.  If those permits are approved and the buildout goes smoothly, expect Nara to open sometime in September.
