Cafe Du Nord On Track For A Late Fall ReopeningPhoto: Andrew Dudley / Hoodline
The return of Cafe Du Nord is almost here, probably.

In a press release, Cafe Du Nord's team announced yesterday that the Market Street venue is on track to reopen in late fall.

As was reported way back in January, the venue is undergoing major renovations courtesy of new owners. And the food and drink programs are getting an overhaul too, by the groups behind Flour + Water and Trick Dog, respectively.

According to the press release, Cafe Du Nord's food menu will feature "classic American dishes" from executive chef Thomas McNaughton, including items like razor clams with salsa verde, salt cod croquettes with chili and sea urchin aioli, beef tongue with smoked oyster remoulade, and a burger and fries.

The cocktail menu will offer, well, cocktails. Examples are something called the Red Nicols Cobbler with champagne, cognac, cherry, lemon, and nutmeg, and the Zoot Sims Punch, with tequila, Tokaji, peach, and lime. Du Nord will be serving food and drinks, including beer and wine, until 2am nightly.

The new project aims to highlight the Cafe Du Nord ambiance of the 1930s and 40s (it opened way back in 1907), and plans include the addition of vintage wallpaper and an art nouveau-inspired mural to the interior.

The space itself will now be divided into two rooms.  The first will feature a 40-foot downstairs bar with 25 stools, and several cafe tables.  In the back will be a doorway to a second room, with table seating for 40, a 5-seat bar and a small stage which will feature free musical performances for guests dining in the rear room.

Unfortunately no renderings were available, so until the space's late fall reopening, you'll just have to use your imagination. We'll let you know when they announce a firm opening date.
