The SFMTA Board will meet on Tuesday for a final vote on a slate of proposed improvements for the Haight Street transit corridor.

As part of the citywide "Muni Forward" project, Haight Street (which boasts the 6, the 71L, and the soon-to-be-decommissioned 71 Muni lines) is the target of a number of possible changes. Those include:

  • Installing new traffic signals or 2-way stop signs at ten intersections along Haight Street, at Shrader, Clayton, Central, Baker, Broderick, Scott, Pierce, Webster, Buchanan, and Laguna.
  • Creating sidewalk bulbouts for pedestrians at various intersections
  • Moving several bus stops across the street from their current locations, to maximize efficiency
  • Making the left eastbound lane of Haight from Buchanan to Laguna Muni-only, which will add an extra block to the new transit-only lane from Laguna to Market
  • Establishing no-left-turn rules at various intersections in the Upper Haight

On Tuesday at 1pm, the Board will vote on whether to approve the project. You can get all the details on the proposed changes in the meeting's agenda here.

The meeting takes place at City Hall Room 400, and the public is welcome to attend.
