Stelline, Gough Street's longstanding Italian restaurant, has closed up shop for a three-month renovation.

Tipster Amber G. alerted us to the closure last night, noting that the closure seemed abrupt. Wondering whether Stelline would be following the lead of Nosa Ria, which closed for good in December, we spoke to a Stelline employee, who let us know that the closure was not final.

Instead, interior renovations will keep the restaurant closed for the next three months or so. According to building permits, these will include the removal of existing walls, new ADA-complaint men's and women's bathrooms, and more.

Stelline has been in Hayes Valley for about 25 years, and the restaurant hopes to stay put. However, it's not set in stone that Stelline will reopen as-is later in 2015. Instead, we've been told that these three months will give the restaurant time to decide on what's next, so if you're a Stelline regular, you may want to cross your fingers.
