Drive-By Shooting Near Church And Market SafewayGoogle Maps

Shots were fired in an apparent drive-by attempt near the Church and Market Safeway earlier tonight.

Police received calls reporting multiple gunshots at the location around 5:05pm tonight, Sgt. Michael Andraychak tells Hoodline. The gunfire also activated the city's ShotSpotter detection system.

According to Andraychak, a black vehicle was traveling northbound on Church Street, from Market towards Duboce. At the same time, a silver sedan was exiting the Safeway parking lot onto Church. As the cars passed each other, an occupant of the black vehicle apparently fired shots at an occupant of the silver sedan.

Officers canvased the area, but couldn't find any injured parties or bullet holes, Andraychak said. Both vehicles are still outstanding at this time. Andraychak added that police have no indication of a connection between the incident and the hit-and-run collision at Fell and Scott which occurred shortly thereafter.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call the SFPD Northern Station's anonymous tip line at (415) 885-5187.

Special thanks to tipsters Junji Harlow and Justin.
