Three-year-old Mission-based online fashion marketplace Twice is launching a pop-up in the former Sprint storefront at 410 Castro St., adjacent to SoulCycle. For the next two weeks, the venture-backed business, which buys and sells used clothing, is “experimenting” with a brick-and-mortar storefront where they will buy “all sorts” of used items, according to Chris Luhur, Twice's director of marketing and community.

In addition to clothing, which is the focus of their online business, Twice will also consider buying home and sporting goods, electronics, hardware and power tools. They're looking for used items in excellent condition, according to their brochure. “No furniture and no cars. And no pets,” Luhur joked.

“We want to make the selling experience easier than eBay," Luhur told Hoodline on the eve of the pop-up's grand opening. “It’s an experiment." She also says the company is "very excited" to have found a location in the Castro for the pop-up. "We looked all over the Bay Area, and this was our first choice."

Potential sellers are invited to bring in their items from 8am-8pm daily. Within 48 hours, Twice will send the seller an offer to purchase the items, or notify them that items have been rejected. Sellers have 24 hours to pick up unaccepted items, or items they decide not to sell. All unclaimed items will be recycled.

To help locals without cars bring in their items, Twice is partnering with Postmates to offer free pick-up assistance. Those who want to sell their items can set up a time online for Postmates to pick them up and bring them to the store.

For those interested in selling clothing, Luhur recommended checking the company’s website to see which brands are most frequently purchased. “It doesn't have to be designer or upscale,” she said, citing Gap, J. Crew, and Banana Republic as some of the company's more popular resale brands.

Twice was founded in 2012 by several former Google employees, according to Luhur. They have raised over $23 million in funding, and currently employ some 250 people at their headquarters at 17th and Treat, in the Mission.
