A dead body was discovered in the parklet outside The Mill (736 Divisadero St.) this morning, temporarily shutting down service at the popular coffee shop and bakery.

The deceased man, described by a Mill manager as "a nicely-dressed gentleman," was found in the parklet around 8am this morning as staff arrived to work. The Mill shut down for an hour while paramedics and the Medical Examiner responded to the scene.

By 9am, The Mill had reopened for business, but the parklet is currently taped off until cleaning crews arrive.

We'll update this story as we get more information about the man's identity and cause of death.

Update, 9/10: The man has been identified as 79-year-old San Francisco resident Samuel Patton. The Medical Examiner's Office has not yet determined the cause of death.

Update, Dec. 7th: According to the office of the Medical Examiner, Samuel Patton died of natural causes: hypertensive heart disease.
