Back in April, we reported that the Castro will be home to the second location of Cole Valley's The Ice Cream Bar, a 1930s-style luncheonette, ice cream parlor, and soda fountain that's known for its "remedies"—boozy fountain drinks made with beer, wine, and vermouth. The new location will be at 554 Castro St., the former home of L'Occitane, which closed in 2014.

According to DRinkPR founder Debbie Rizzo, who represents the new shop, plans are moving forward. The new space will take on a unique name, "The Castro Fountain," and the menu may be somewhat tweaked from the original's.

"The location will serve ice cream and hopes to expand its baked goods offering,"  Rizzo told Hoodline. The original Ice Cream Bar serves sandwiches on house-baked brioche or whole wheat bread, though it's unclear if more bread will be the focus of the new baked goods selection.

Back in April, the team behind the project had a fall 2015 opening date in mind, and they've stuck relatively close to that projection. "The Castro Fountain will open sometime this late fall/winter," said Rizzo.

As for the "remedies," Rizzo couldn't confirm if the new location will be serving them, as no beer and wine license has yet been filed. We'll update you when we know more about a specific opening date, as well as whether or not the location will serve alcohol.
