KitTea Now Hosts Feline-Friendly Yoga Classes And Movie NightsPhotos via KitTea

Cat cafe KitTea has made good on its plans to incorporate events in its cat lounge space, and is now hosting regular yoga classes and weekly movie nights.

The yoga classes, which take place within petting distance of the space's resident felines, are described as Hatha flow, meaning there's an emphasis on breathing and restorative poses. Each class includes a 90-minute yoga session, a short head and shoulder massage, a pot of tea, and 30 minutes of kitty time.

Monday's class is taught by teacher Lucia Young, and runs from 6:30-8:30pm. (Spots can be reserved at a temporary discounted rate of $40 here.) On Thursdays, Hien Tran teaches yoga from 7-9pm. (You can reserve a spot for $55 here.)

In addition to yoga, KitTea has also been hosting "mewvie" nights on Friday evenings for the last six weeks. "We source mewvies that feature a strong 'feline' lead, or theme,” owner Courtney Hatt tells us. Past movies have included Hocus PocusThe Lion KingThe Cat From Outer Space, and Homeward Bound.

Coming up next is a screening of the movie Bell, Book & Candle, a 1958 romantic comedy about a witch living in New York City's Greenwich Village. And yes, she does have a cat. The movie will screen on both October 23rd and October 30th in the kitty space, at 9:30pm. Admission is $38 and includes unlimited tea, and a dessert. Hatt tells us they tend to sell out quickly, so reserve a spot here if you're interested.

Last but not least, a cat seminar entitled Everything Cats Wish Humans Knew About How To Serve Them will take place at KitTea on November 17th ($25). Feline experts Jodi Ziskin, Robin Kesnow and Daniel "DQ" Quagliozzi will be covering issues such as diet, playtime, body language, and cats with special needs.
