Rickybobby has been serving up its brand of American comfort food on the corner of Haight & Webster for three years, but neighborhood scuttlebutt indicates the restaurant could soon be closing its doors.

Over the last couple of months, multiple tipsters have mentioned rumors of a changeover. "I heard from a friend that the restaurant Ricky Bobby on Haight and Webster is closing," wrote Chris E. " Ricky Bobby restaurant is rumored to close this weekend," said Raleigh S. today.

We checked in with Rickybobby to see what's up. According to co-owner James Moisey, who opened the restaurant with fellow Broken Record chef Shane LaValley, the restaurant is closing, but Moisey says it'll be a temporary closure for personal reasons. He did not confirm a closing date.

Still, Rickybobby fans may have reason to suspect the restaurant may not return: the space at 400 Haight St. has been on the market for more than a month.

According to the listing, which was last updated 30 days ago, $200,000 gets you a "fully fixtured restaurant" and a beer and wine license on an "excellent location in the LowerHaight." Moisey says that the listing was put up to test the market.

So what's next for 400 Haight? Neither Rickybobby's owner nor its brokers will say for sure, but we'll keep you updated. If you've got a hankering for sweet potatertots, pork fries or beef and bacon burgers, you may want to indulge the urge sooner rather than later.
