Pedestrian Killed, Another Injured In Tenderloin Hit-And-Run [Updated]Photo: Google Maps

A male pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run in the Tenderloin on Saturday evening. A second pedestrian was injured in the collision.

Bay City News reports that police responded to the intersection of Leavenworth and Ellis streets at 6:46pm last night.

The victim, a man in his 50s, was reportedly crossing southbound on Leavenworth Street, on the west side of the intersection, when he was struck by a vehicle headed westbound on Ellis. There is no description available of the suspect vehicle, which fled the scene. (Update, 3/14: Police report that the suspect vehicle is a silver Dodge minivan.)

The second pedestrian, a man in his 30s, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital.

The fatal hit-and-run comes just one day after another such incident on Friday morning, which saw a man struck and killed at Broadway & Powell. The suspect vehicle in that incident was described as a white, windowless van.

Update, 3/14: The victim has been identified as 56-year-old Michael Gilmore.
