The SFPD reported this morning that human skeletal remains were discovered on Friday afternoon on the 1900 block of Fillmore Street (between Bush and Pine).

Details at this time are slim, and SFPD is keeping mum about the investigation as it's still in process. That said, it is being considered a "suspicious death."

The block where the remains were found is a popular destination in Lower Pacific Heights, with businesses such as Woodhouse Fish Co, Fraiche, prAna and Paper Source.

Bones have been discovered in a number of places around San Francisco recently. Remains of two people, including a child, were found in a sidewalk planter box on McAllister Street lat last year. And in February a human skull was discovered in the walls of a house on Central during a renovation project.

We'll keep you updated on the macabre Fillmore Street discovery as information becomes available.

Update 4/5, 9am: The Chronicle reports that the remains were found underneath Perfect Cleaners, during an excavation following a plumbing issue. The bones are being DNA-tested to see if they match any reports of missing persons. No word yet on if the remains belong to a man or a woman, or an adult or a child.
