It's been over a year since we reported that Santa-Cruz based Verve Coffee Roasters was plotting a location at Market & Church, and some readers may have wondered about the status of the project. Today, we finally received the first official word that Verve is indeed moving forward with its first San Francisco location.

"Verve Coffee Roasters has signed a new lease at 2101 Market St.—on the corner of Market and Church Street," said a PR rep for the company, who reported that Verve is aiming for an opening sometime this summer. 

The former Veo Optics space has been under construction for some time, and with the windows papered over, it's unclear just how far along it is towards becoming the kind of bright and beach-y space that Verve favors for its cafes.
