Facebook may be considering opening its first San Francisco office, the San Francisco Business Times reports

Unnamed sources have told the publication that the Menlo Park-based company is interested in leasing hundreds of thousands of square feet of office space once the Central SoMa Plan—which is poised to rezone portions of the neighborhood to allow for millions of square feet of additional office space—is approved (likely early next year).

While the publication cited ongoing issues with shuttling workers and employee complaints regarding the commute as Facebook's likely reasons for considering leasing office space in San Francisco, sources also said the company's San Francisco real estate plans are "very preliminary and could end up being discarded in favor of more growth in Menlo Park."
