With three days to unwind, Labor Day weekend is a great opportunity for a brief staycation. If you're staying in town, we recommend taking some long walks along the Great Highway, visiting your favorite brunch spot, and exploring the sights, sounds (and flavors) of the Outer Sunset.

There's a lot to choose from in the days ahead: Honey Hive is staging three shows, a new store that supports kids in need is opening, and the famous SF Mime Troupe is putting on a show in Golden Gate Park. Onward!

Saturday, 11am: Hunter's Threads Store Launch

Yesterday, we profiled Hunter's Threads (2124 Taraval St.), a brand-new shop that sells secondhand children's clothing and merchandise to help raise funds for children who need physical, speech and occupational therapy.

The store's grand opening is Saturday afternoon, and attendees will be treated to ice cream from Churn Urban Creamery, coffee by Andytown, and freshly grilled barbecue for $10.

Musician Dane Ohri will be on hand to play an acoustic set, and children who may benefit from therapist-led play groups will have a chance to sign up for a session.

Here's the rest of what's going on in the neighborhood this weekend
