Bayview's Kneeling Colin Kaepernick Mural Disappears

Just a few days after we first reported the appearance of a new Bayview mural, depicting a kneeling Colin Kaepernick, it has vanished.

The mural read, "Believe the Message. Not the Hype," and is connected to the quarterback's kneeling during the national anthem before 49er games to protest racism and police brutality nationwide.

Yesterday afternoon, the same anonymous tipster who alerted us of the new mural sent in the shot above, showing the building completely covered in white paint.

The mural, three days ago.

We spoke with nearby businesses and tenants of the building, at Hudson Avenue and Newhall Street, who all said they were shocked to see the mural go and were not sure who removed it.

However, neighbors have said that a vocal group of residents and business owners may have helped erase the Kaepernick mural through consistent complaints to the building's owner.

We've contacted the building owner to learn more about the mural's disappearance and have not received a response.
