The body of a San Francisco resident was found and pulled from the water yesterday afternoon in Mission Bay.

Officials retrieved the body near Mission Creek Park at about 3:45pm after receiving reports of a death near the 300 block of Channel Street, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

The cause of death remains undetermined.

The man was identified as Mark Benson, a 51-year-old San Francisco resident, according to the city Medical Examiner’s office.

The SFPD declined to comment on the nature of the death, but we'll update this story if and when we learn more.
