More than 350 trees fell throughout San Francisco as high winds and heavy rains rolled through the city this week, leaving many trees reduced to forlorn stumps.
Tipster Kathrin M. spotted a unique reaction to one such stump on the west side of Fillmore Street, near Bush, noting that a "new urban forest" had sprouted. The stump has lovingly been carved into the outline of a bushy tree by an unknown (likely amateur) arborist.
Kathrin also noted "the devastating effect of the wind in that and the next block, Fillmore- Sutter, where other like trees are also seriously damaged and may need to come down."
