The heavy rains and wind that have been plaguing San Francisco for the past week were out in full force yesterday, wreaking more havoc across the city. Here are some of the latest casualties of the storm:

Fallen tree disrupts BART service, overcrowds 24th Street-Mission station

A tree limb that fell on a BART track caused massive service disruptions during rush hour last night, as well as serious overcrowding in at least one station. The trouble began around 5:35pm, when the falling limb slammed into the side of a downtown-bound train between Balboa Park and Colma stations with such force that it partially broke the glass on the train's windshield.

The tree then fell on the opposite track, where it was struck by another BART train bound for Daly City. The tree lodged under the train, stranding passengers for half an hour until a rescue train arrived.

While the tracks were blocked, BART began offloading passengers at the 24th Street-Mission station, causing massive overcrowding in the station. The overwhelmed platform escalator broke, and people began climbing on top of it:

A Muni bus also went completely dark at Webster and Waller:

Downed trees

The storm also brought the usual array of downed trees and tree limbs. Here are a few sent in by readers.

Tipster Tony U. sent this shot of a massive tree that collapsed at 14th and Noe streets in Duboce Triangle. "Trees are going down like 2016 celebrities," he wrote.

In Russian Hill, Carrie S. spotted this large tree that fell from George Sterling Park. "It's currently blocking Lombard Street west of Hyde. It fell around 6pm last night, and several cars are stuck underneath."
