The former garage at 930 Cole St. has acquired its final tenant: Accelerate Sports Performance, a fitness and training studio currently based in North Beach, at 2215 Powell St.

Founded seven years ago by San Francisco native Jack Cooney, Accelerate provides consultation-based individual fitness programs and physical therapy, including program development, individual training, and nutrition planning.

Accelerate's portion of the cavernous century-old space at 930 Cole, which also houses GoHealth Urgent Care and Leenie Rae Boutique, was originally set to be a yoga studio, Urban Sol Yoga. But after Urban Sol pulled out of the project, it went back on the market in December.

Cooney said Accelerate will take over the space on May 15th, and is set to open some time between then and June 15th.

"I just wanted to be more central to the city," he said, "and allow the public and private school kids a little bit more access to the facility."

"It's also closer to home for me, I live in the area."

In addition to his standard training program, "we hope to add a holistic approach and wellness" to the regimen, Cooney said, bringing in yoga instructors for classes in the front of the space.

Accelerate Sports Performance will be yet another addition to the booming Upper Haight/Cole Valley fitness scene, which also includes gym/trainers Cole Valley Fitness (957 Cole St.) and The Firm (225 Frederick St.); cycling studio Body Rok (1529 Haight St.) for your cycling-focused fitness regime; and Yoga Tree (780 Stanyan St.)
