Every week, we take a look at what's going down in San Francisco. In recent months, there's been a flurry of business activity taking place in Union Square and SoMa, which are both welcoming (and saying goodbye) to popular retail shops.

What's Open & What's To Come

Union Square: Moreau Paris
345 Powell St.

Moreau Paris is opening at the base of the Westin St. Francis Hotel, taking over the former site of Goyard. Tipster Godwin H. tells us that the French luxury brand—which sells leather goods like bags and luggage sets—is slated to open in spring 2017.

SoMa: Ness Sox
865 Market St. (Level C at Westfield San Francisco Centre)

A Guest Services representative at Westfield San Francisco Centre tells us that Ness Sox opened about a month and a half ago. Located on the concourse level, the new retail store sells women's and men's clothing, as well as accessories.

Mission Bay: CorePower Yoga
1200 4th St. (Ste D&E)

Although CorePower Yoga's newest Mission Bay studio is smaller than its Fremont outpost, it's reportedly less cramped. It includes two studios, three showers and bathrooms equipped with the usual amenities like lotion and deodorant. In celebration of its grand opening, CorePower is offering 10% off its Black Tag Membership, which includes an $89 introductory month, unlimited yoga, special workshops, retail discounts and 20% off teacher training & BootCamp.

Recently Shuttered

SoMa: Fossil
865 Market St. (Ste 338 at Westfield San Francisco Centre)

Just as the Westfield San Francisco Centre welcomes Ness Sox, it says goodbye to Fossil, an American watch and lifestyle shop. Another Guest Services representative confirms the closure, but is uncertain of what's to come. Rumor has it that the location will soon be taken over by Diesel, an Italian retail company that sells clothing, accessories and denim.

Union Square: Avant Card
338 Grant Ave.

According to Yelper Mi M., Avant Card shuttered on February 28th. We called the stationary and card shop but were unable to reach its owners for comment. While the reason for closure has not been disclosed, several reviews on Yelp describe issues with customer service and management.

Pacific Heights: Soubella Nails Spa
2824 California St.

Pacific Heights' newest nail salon opened on March 2nd. Following a recent change of ownership, the space has been retrofitted with new chairs, sinks and wallpaper. Soubella Nails Spa uses homemade products like shea butter, lotions and cuticle oil, made from natural ingredients. No chemical preservatives are used in order to protect clients' skin.
