A little more than a year after its February 2016 debut, Michelin-starred restaurant Mosu (1552 Fillmore St.) is bowing out. Its last day in business will be April 29th.

As Eater SF reports, chef and owner Sung Anh is planning to move to Seoul, South Korea, to be closer to his family and to further pursue his culinary career. He'll be opening a new restaurant, to be named Mosu Seoul, and expects construction there to start in the next months.

“I’m not leaving because I can’t pay my rent, or because my business suffers financially," Anh told Eater. "The decision is for my family's sake, and wanting to do something more."

The hyper-minimalist space on Fillmore Street, which seats 18 people and is only available by reservation, offers a contemporary American kaiseki-style tasting menu with Asian influences.

In their one-star review, Michelin called Anh's cuisine "very accomplished"; only 33 restaurants in San Francisco hold the honor of having one star or more.

Anh said he had been seeking a bigger space in San Francisco, but wasn't successful. His new Seoul location will be much bigger, around 3,000 square feet, and the menu will also be adjusted to the new city and culture.

Until the end of the month, Mosu will continue to serve dinner Tuesday-Saturday, from 5:30-9pm. Tables can be reserved online.
