In recent culinary shuffles of the Upper Haight, you may have noticed the sudden conversion of Haight Street Gelato (1782 Haight St.) to the newly dubbed RromD, a gelato-and-Thai crepe shop gearing up for a grand opening this Sunday.

The new creperie has a playful vibe.

The makeover, replete with newly painted storefront and a new menu, is the work of debut restaurateur Krittaya "Pim" Sutraromluck, employees told us Thursday.

The menu focuses on Thai street-style crepes and ranges from the sweet to the savory, with most items falling comfortably in the $5-8 range. R-rom will also be serving up gelato and smoothies.

The crepe menu includes standard sweet options and savories like chili paste-with-dried pork.

The shop's previous incarnation was beset by legal troubles following an ill-timed permitting application to operate as a limited-use restaurant, but the space was approved for restaurant use by last July. It's not clear why Haight Street Gelato moved on.

According to staff, the grand opening is slated for Sunday, April 30th, kicking off at 11am. As part of the opening, customers can get a free gelato scoop with the purchase of a crepe all day.
