With StreetTaco's Second Location, Mexico City Street Food Comes To SoMaStreetTaco in the Haight. | Photo: StreetTaco

Those harboring a craving for Mexican eats can head to SoMa, where StreetTaco has opened an outpost at 83 9th St. (near Mission).

The new restaurant joins a first location on 1607 Haight St. in the Haight. The menu includes standard Mexican fare like tacos, burritos and nachos, as well as salads, tostada bowls and extras like rice and beans.

Come with a loose belt and expect generous portions of meats. According to Yelper John B., each "taco was absolutely piled high with protein and toppings," which includes options like carne asada (grilled steak), costilla (beef rib), grilled chicken, grilled fish and nopales (cactus).

Extra toppings — meat, avocado, guacamole, cheese or sour cream — are also offered for an additional fee.

As for drinks, diners can choose between non-alcoholic beverages like aguas frescas and domestic or Mexican soda. For something a little stronger, beer (bottled, draft or domestic) and wine are also available.

Compared to StreetTaco's Haight Street shop, Yelpers noted that prices seem to be a little higher at the new SoMa location, which seats about 15 people and includes an open kitchen.

"The tacos were savory and the tortillas were made by hand right in front of us," said John B. "The staff was friendly and clearly working their hardest. I just wish it didn't end up costing us almost 25 dollars for 4 tacos."

Both Street Taco locations are now open daily from 11am–10pm. If you stop by for a bite, let us know what you think in the comments.
