The shop at 842 Cole St.—formerly known as Video Nook, currently operating as Fix My Phone SF—is in the midst of transitioning into a new venture: SF Wheels.

Each of the shop's incarnations have been managed by a single owner, Michael Gday, all in the name of "changing with the times," said bicycle mechanic Billy Mitchell, a longtime former bike messenger who'll be doing repairs at SF Wheels.

In recent weeks, the store has added a reconfigured cash register and a dozen-odd bikes available for sale, mostly electric.

The shift towards bicycles, like the pivot away from video rentals, is part of the shop's effort to stay relevant, Mitchell said. While computer and phone repairs will still be available, the next few weeks will see a more direct shift towards bicycles and related accessories and merchandise.

In addition to eProdigy, Genze, and A2B bikes available for sale now, the shop will stock offerings from Juiced, Magnum, and Stromer, Mitchell said. He added that they're focusing on entry-level priced electric bikes that start at just over $1,000, but also plan to add more deluxe lines.

The back of the shop will be outfitted as a full-service bicycle mechanic, Mitchell said, for both electric and manual bikes.

Mitchell said the conversion is happening gradually, starting with the first bike delivery a couple of weeks ago, so that they can make the space over without having to close for business.
