It's the beginning of the month, which means it's time for another look at crime in SFPD's Central District, which includes Chinatown, Financial District, Embarcadero, Russian, Telegraph and Nob Hills, North Beach, and Union Square.

Here are some of the incidents that have taken place since our last roundup. Unless otherwise noted, all reports are based on information from SFPD.

Three Muggers Rob Man Near Fisherman's Wharf

On May 31 at 5pm in Fisherman's Wharf, a 44-year-old man was robbed while walking near the corner of North Point Street and Embarcadero.

Three male suspects in their 20s approached the victim, surrounded him, and one of the suspects pressed an object against his back while the others rummaged through his pockets and took his cash. The suspects all fled in an unknown vehicle.

Apartment Building Robber Taken Into Custody

In Nob Hill on May 26 at 2:24am on the 800 block of Pine Street a man, 24, walked into an apartment building where the victim, a 43-year-old man, worked at the front counter. The suspect stole the victim's backpack and then waived a knife at him. He then fled the scene on foot, but officers nearby were able to take him into custody. 

FiDi Assault Victim Hospitalized 

Just after 4pm on the 200 block of Market Street in the FiDi on May 25, an assault occurred after a suspect in his late 20s and a man, 45, got into an argument while riding a MUNI car. The suspect punched and kicked the victim before he fled the scene on foot. The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. 

Man Attacked, Robbed Near Fisherman's Wharf

A man, 48, was transported to a hospital with minor injuries after he was robbed near the corner of North Point and Van Ness Streets by Fisherman's Wharf at 5:40pm on May 24.

The victim was waiting for a bus when two suspects, one in his 30s and the other in his 20s, walked up and began punching him. The victim fell to the ground as his assailants continued to strike him before stealing a bag of clothing and fleeing the scene. 

Hot Prowler Nabs Items While FiDi Couple Sleeps

A hot prowl burglar stole items from a man, 32, and a woman, 31, while they were sleeping sometime between 11:30pm and 7am on the 100 block of Sacramento Street on May 23. The unknown suspect entered their residence through a door and took a laptop, clothing, wallet and a purse. 

Woman Mugged On Russian Hill While Walking

On May 22 at 11am, a woman, 54, was robbed near the corner of Francisco and Larkin Streets when a suspect in his 30s jumped out of an unknown car and tried to snatch the victim's camera.

Failing to grab the camera, he then took her backpack and got back into the awaiting vehicle; a second suspect drove away westbound on Francisco Street. The victim suffered from minor injuries, but was not transported to a hospital. 

Nob Hill Resident Thwarts Hot Prowl Burglary

At 2:25am on May 22 on the 800 block of Bush Street, a burglar entered a 26-year-old woman's home and attempted to steal her cellphone, laptop and handbag. When the victim confronted the suspect, a man between the ages of 20 and 40, he dropped the loot and fled the scene on foot. 

Chinatown Argument Escalates To Assault With Glass 

On the 700 block of Broadway in Chinatown on May 21 just after midnight, an aggravated assault occurred after a man, 27, and a woman, 28, got into an argument with three male suspects in their 30s.

One of the suspects hit the man with a glass, injuring him. As the other two suspects were fleeing, one of them also assaulted the woman before leaving the scene. Both victims were injured in the incident and transported to a hospital in non life-threatening condition.
