Looking for a new weekday lunch option? You're in luck: a new business has opened its doors in the neighborhood. The new arrival to the Financial District, called Cheesesteak on Clay, is located at 653 Clay St. (between Kearny St & Montgomery St).
The new Fidi spot offers a streamlined menu featuring three cheesesteak options, all served on Philly Amoroso's rolls. Choose from a classic cheesesteak, "pizza" cheesesteak with marinara sauce, or veggie cheesesteak (all $9.50-$10 for an 8-inch, $13.50 for a 12-inch), and top off your choice with a selection of toppings, from jalapeños to sweet banana peppers to bleu cheese and Ranch dressing. Chicken wings, waffle fries, and a trio of salad options for those with lighter appetites round out the menu, and a selection of beers are available by the pint or pitcher. (See the full menu here.)
The new cheesesteakery has already attracted fans, with a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp thus far.
Dennis Z., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 21st, said: "I came here on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, and which was apparently the 2nd day of being open ... All in all, I think this restaurant has potential, and I'll come back to try other items."
Yelper Meo T. added: "Great Philly cheesesteak. They do it right, Amoroso, Whiz, and melted cheese. Good job for the first opening week."
And Daniel A. said: "I've never been a huge cheesesteak guy and but just tried Cheesesteak on Clay as it just opened in SF and I loved it. The Amoroso roll with top sirloin and cheese whiz was a perfect lunch to get me thru the day."
With a price rating of two dollar signs on Yelp, you can estimate you'll spend $11-$30 per person on a visit to Cheesesteak on Clay.
