Phnom Penh House: 1514 Webster St., Alameda

Cambodian restaurant Phnom Penh House, originally located at 251 8th St., was forced to close earlier this year due to "development plans," according to The Mercury-News. Tipster Al M. spoke to a person working on site who said the eatery will open soon on Webster St. in Alameda.

A previous message on Phnom Penh House's website stated, “even though we are sad to leave the Chinatown location after being there for 30 years, we hope that we will continue to see all of our wonderful patrons at the new location."

Now, a new message reads, "GRAND OPENING => JULY 7, 2017. Hope to see you there..."

Roses' Taproom: 4930 Telegraph Ave.

Earlier this year, we reported that Hillary Huffard and Luke Janson, the folks behind Roses' Taproom, had plans to open their boutique brewery sometime in March. Although things moved slower than planned, the taproom is poised to open tomorrow with a grand opening celebration starting at 6pm.

"Roses' Taproom is the culmination of a decade of backyard homebrewing, urban gardening, stove top science, and endless dreaming of opening a grain-to-glass taproom," the owners write on the Taproom's website.

New Tins Supermarket: 702 Webster St.

Tipster extraordinaire Al M. reports from Chinatown that New Tins Supermarket has called it quits at its Webster St. corner spot.

"New Tin's was a family business with a bigger location ten years ago on 7th and Harrison Streets," he told us. Now, there's a FOR RENT sign on the window and "Chinatown has lost another grocery store."

[Update: 7/3/17] Alert readers have let us know that the much larger New Tin's Market is still open at 310 7th St.

The Well. | Photo: Karim B./Yelp

The Well: 5443 Telegraph Ave.

The Well, a new café centered around health and wellness, was scheduled to open on June 20th. But as Al M. reports, that date had to be pushed back to this past Thursday due to some last-minute permitting issues.

Now, the doors are open and it appears that things are running smoothly.

"So happy to be here on opening day!" wrote Shilpa L. on Yelp. "I had the savory porridge and the ceremonial chocolate. Both were so delicious. And very nourishing porridge! It powered me through a busy schedule today. Love the decor, atmosphere and the service. So beautifully done! Can't wait to come back here again."

The Well is open Tuesday–Saturday, 8am–4pm, Sunday 9am–3pm, and is closed on Monday.

Lastly, Al M. reports that a "Mountain Mike’s Pizza will be opening up in the Temescal neighborhood soon."
