Three years in, ice cream sandwich shop Swich has called it quits. In a Facebook post, the shop at 2045 Irving St. and 22nd Ave. has announced that they'll be closing on June 19th.

The shop has already disconnected its phone number, and Hoodline has tried multiple times to get in touch with the ice cream sandwich makers, but we have not yet received a response.

Swich's fans in the area mourned the upcoming closing.

"I am just heartbroken!!!" wrote Morinne Y. "Everyone has their 'go-to-place' in the hood, and you were it for not only our family, but for many in the neighborhood (as you can see from the many posts)!! We are going to miss you and your amazing treats!!!"

While Swich did not state the reason behind their closure, a hint comes from our interview with owner and chef Sandy Lam last year.

Back then, she told us that "ice cream can be a tough sell in a neighborhood filled with boba shops, noodle houses, and Chinese restaurants and bakeries," especially in an area where buns and sweets can go for less than a dollar.

Another commenter had a similar thought. "Swich just happens to be in the wrong area," wrote Derek M. "Swich is unique. Not just another bubble tea spot or carbon copy business that litters the Outer Sunset."

If we hear from Swich, we'll update this story with their response. But for fans, you have until the 19th to head over to Irving Street to partake of Swich's ice cream and savory sandwiches, puddings and pies.
