Just in time for summer, a local craft brewer, the San Francisco Brewing Co., has teamed up with Ghirardelli Square to debut its first outdoor beer garden this Friday, June 23rd.

Located on the Square’s West Plaza, the brewery will feature five craft and seasonal beers, starting with an Alcatraz Amber Ale, Lá Mission Mexican Lager, and Marina Blond Ale. For the opening weekend, the two seasonal releases will have Hops from Heaven Double IPA and Tropical Treasure Island Pineapple IPA.

All beers will be $7 and the Double IPA will be $9.00. Guests can also grab a 32-oz. San Francisco Brewing Co.-branded grab n' go growler for a beer on the go.

"We are [also] pairing up with South City Ciderworks and offering three of their handcrafted small batch ciders," master brewer and co-founder Josh Leavy told us. "We believe in working with other small craft local businesses."

Leavy added that Bluxome Street Wine, which also has a tasting room at the Square, will be served at the beer garden as well.

The brewer will be joining a line-up of existing small businesses, and has partnered with several popular restaurants such as as Waxman's and The Pub.

Guests will be able to order food and bring it back to enjoy in the open space of the beer garden. The brewery will have pub-friendly nibbles like chips, nuts and trail mix on hand as well.

The beer garden will have seating for both large and small groups, with 12 long community tables and five high-top tables. In a nod to San Francisco's notoriously fickle summers, there will be both heat lamps and umbrellas.

In addition to enjoying a pint in the garden, guests will be treated to an array of entertainment such as live music from local reggae/rock band, The Stu Tails, who will perform daily from 1-3pm and 4-6pm. Ping pong tables, a cornhole board, Jenga, and a life-sized Connect Four game will also be available.

For now, the beer garden is only open for the summer. There's no word yet on whether there are plans to make this a permanent installation.

Starting this Friday, the San Francisco Brewing Co. location at Ghirardelli Square will be open Thursday to Saturday from 11am–10pm and 11am–6pm on Sunday.
