While we don't report on every crime that occurs in Hayes Valley and the Western Addition, we do our best to keep you informed about goings-on in the neighborhood.

Here's a selection of crimes that have occurred in the area since our last roundup in early July. All reports were provided by the SFPD, unless otherwise noted.

Bicycle Purse-Snatcher

On August 2nd, a 51-year-old woman walking near Geary Boulevard and Laguna Street around 2pm when an unknown man on a bike rode past her and grabbed her purse.

The victim hung on and fell to the ground along with the suspect, who escaped with her purse, which contained glasses, a cell phone, money, keys and other items. The victim complained of pain, but medical treatment was refused and no arrest was made.

Hot Prowler Flees After Confronted By Resident

On July 27th at 10:30am, a 36-year-old woman was in her home on the 800 block of Fulton St. when an unknown man entered. He took a laptop computer and fled when confronted. No arrest has been made.

Fatal Stabbing In Hayes Valley

On July 21st, officers responded to a report of someone in need of assistance on Lily and Octavia streets at 7:09pm.

When units arrived, a man was found lying on the sidewalk. Paramedics responded, but the victim was declared dead. For more information, here's our story.

Mob Assaults, Robs Man On Muni bus

On July 17th, a 27-year-old man boarded a Muni bus at Market and McAllister streets at 6:50pm and got into a verbal altercation with an unknown 18-year-old male and eight other 18-year-olds.

The victim then got off and boarded another Muni bus, but the suspects followed him. Once on the bus, they surrounded and attacked the him, then took his cell phone and fled. No arrests have been made.

Shots Fired In Fillmore

On June 13th, units responded to a shot spotter activation at 11:46pm on Grove and Buchanan streets. Spent casings were recovered and three vehicles had gunfire damage, but no victims, suspects, or other evidence was located.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding these incidents to call the SFPD Tip Line at 415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD. Callers may remain anonymous.
