The Museum of Ice Cream—an Instagram-friendly, pop-up exhibition celebrating frozen confection—is heading to 1 Grant Ave., previously home to an Emporio Armani boutique.

It is expected to open in September, though an exact date has not been revealed. The announcement comes just after Color Factory's vibrant exhibition made its way to Union Square this month.

The museum previously made stops in Los Angeles and New York, and will feature a variety of popsicle-themed installations, smells and flavors specifically created for San Francisco visitors.

In Los Angeles, the museum designed a signature sprinkle pool filled with 100 million sprinkles made of antimicrobial plastics.

Considered an outstanding example of the City Beautiful movement and designed by architects Bliss and Faville, the former Emporio Armani building is a 108-year-old landmark.

"Founder and creative director Maryellis Bunn was drawn to the challenge of creating the next Museum of Ice Cream in a building with stunning architectural highlights," a museum spokesperson told Hoodline.

Plans are in the works to incorporate the 45-foot-high vaulted ceilings and building structures "that have been hidden from view for decades" into the exhibition, the spokesperson explained.

City records also revealed that the former Emporio Armani boutique was approved for limited restaurant usage on July 27th. Other permits hint that a walk-in freezer could come to the space.

There's no word yet on whether or not visitors will get a chance to taste ice cream, but in Los Angeles, admission includes two scoops.

Tickets will go on sale in mid-August.
