Time for another look at crime in SFPD's Central District, which includes Chinatown, Financial District, Embarcadero, Russian, Telegraph and Nob Hills, North Beach, and Union Square.

In this week's Central Station newsletter, Captain Paul Yep announced the doubling of Central's foot patrol staff. The move comes after Police Chief William Scott implemented new officer deployment strategies to help curb violence and property crime earlier this month.

"There were fourteen foot beat patrol officers," Yep writes, "covering Fisherman’s Wharf, North Beach, Chinatown, Union Square and the Market/Financial District areas, when I first arrived at Central Station in March of this year. As of Saturday, September 9th, there are twenty-eight foot beat officers."

Here are some of the incidents that have taken place since our last biweekly report. Unless otherwise noted, all reports are based on information from SFPD.
