Samovar Tea will soon open a new location in the former Fraiche frozen yogurt space at 1910 Fillmore St. (between Bush and Pine).

“Our friend Patama [Gur], owner of Fraiche frozen yogurt, asked if we wanted to bring tea to Fillmore and take over the space,” Samovar owner Jesse Jacobs told us.

He said tea is a daily habit that Samovar loves delivering, and that the new location will “make this daily habit more accessible.”

“Coffee is everywhere, and the world needs more tea,” Jacobs said.

Samovar has existing locations at 411 Valencia St. (near 15th Street) and in Yerba Buena Gardens at 730 Howard St., as well as at San Francisco International Airport.

Before deciding to take on a new location, the Samovar team surveyed customers and found that many live in Pacific Heights. The Fillmore Street location felt like “a great opportunity to bring our tea and chai to them,” he said.

The menu and decor will largely reflect Samovar’s Valencia Street location, but the menu will include “some exciting new offerings we can’t talk about just yet,” Jacobs said. The focus will be on tea and food, and no alcohol will be offered.

The interior design will strive to create a comfortable, efficient customer experience, Jacobs said. “We aim to offer an oasis that people can escape to for five minutes, or five hours."

Samovar will open on Fillmore Street this winter, or perhaps earlier, if all goes well, said Jacobs.
