New American Spot 'Son's Addition' Debuts In The MissionPhoto: Soo Jung R./Yelp

If you've got New American fare on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. The new arrival, called Son's Addition, is located at 2990 24th St. (between Alabama St. & Harrison St.) in the Mission.

As we reported earlier this month, the restaurant is the brainchild of married couple Nick Cobarruvias and Anna Sager Cobarruvias. Nick, formerly the executive chef of Marlowe in SoMa, will hold the same role here; Anna is the general manager.

The former Usulutan Restaurant space has been transformed into a casual-chic dining room with wood furniture and tiled accents. The menu includes "eclectic and hyper-seasonal" fare like kimchi and bacon deviled eggs, and a five-spice braised lamb shank with goat cheese polenta.

There's also wine by the glass and six draft beers, with brunch and cocktails coming down the line.

Named for the third child the Covarrubiases forewent in order to open the restaurant, Son's Addition bills itself as family-friendly, and will feature a kids' menu for youngsters.

Son's Addition currently has 10 reviews on Yelp, which give it a five-star rating thus far.

Jasmine D., who was among the first to review the new restaurant on October 28th, wrote: "Son's Addition is a phenomenal newcomer to the 24th Street corridor. We were thrilled with the charming atmosphere and the delectable creations from chef Nick Cobarruvias."

Yelper Daniel S. wrote: "I don't typically leave reviews, but after having the best bone marrow of my life the other night I felt somewhat obligated. Also not to be missed: lamb shank, uni tostada and kimchi deviled eggs."

And Rachel S. noted: "Incredibly creative food combinations. Delicious! I had the hamachi and the uni and tuna tostada to start, followed by the lamb shank. Every item was perfectly cooked."

Son's Addition is now open at 2990 24th St., so stop in to try it for yourself.
