New Escape Game Spot 'Escape Reality' Now Open In River NorthPhoto: Escape Reality/Yelp

A new escape game spot has made its debut in the neighborhood. Called Escape Reality, the new addition is located at 158 W Erie St. in River North.

Escape Reality Chicago is the company's second U.S. location (the other is in Las Vegas). It also has outposts in Dubai and throughout the United Kingdom.

There are six escape room games to partake in, with varying levels of difficulty.

For beginners, there's "Tortuga Pirates," in which teams play as the captain of a ship, the Mariposa. The crew has mutinied and locked you and some of your friends in the prison at the bottom of the ship. You have one hour to use the clues and puzzles to escape before the next moon.

If you're up for a challenge, opt for the "Down the Rabbit Hole" game, where after a night of celebration, you and your friends are whisked away into an unknown world. Your mission? To "escape sane and unscarred, whilst finding your way around this peculiar place."

With a five-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp so far, Escape Reality is on its way to developing a local fan base.

Bill A., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on October 5th, said: "This experience was PHENOMENAL. Great attention to detail and a truly positive staff made for a great time. I had the honor of doing an escape room before, and and this one really made me interested."

Yelper Elizabeth R. added: “Visited today with a good friend and had a BLAST. We did the Saw-inspired escape room and it was honestly pretty difficult; however, Bobby (one of the clientele there) was super informative.”

Head on over to check it out: Escape Reality is open Friday and Saturday from 11am–midnight, and Sunday–Thursday from 11am–10pm.
