New University District Korean Spot 'Palmi Korean BBQ' Opens Its DoorsPhoto: Mandy T./Yelp

A new Korean barbecue spot has opened up shop in the neighborhood. Located at 4534 University Way NE. (between 45th St. & 47th St.) in the University District, the new addition is called Palmi Korean BBQ.

In true Korean BBQ fashion, diners can select their meal from an array of raw meat (including beef brisket, short ribs, pork belly, beef tongue and more) and veggies, and then cook the food directly on the grills stationed at each table. There are sides, made-to-order dishes, and the ubiquitous banchan (small appetizers of pickled vegetables and other snacks) served as well.

There are also Korean entrees on offer like bi bim bap, soft tofu stew with seafood or beef, kimchi stew and more. (You can check out the full menu here.)

The fresh arrival has gotten off to a solid start thus far, with a four-star rating out of 32 reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Mandy T., who was the first to review the new spot on September 1st, wrote: "This is the first Korean BBQ restaurant to open up on the ave with a stovetop grill plate. For any Korean BBQ lover near the U-District, this kind of news will strike your fancy."

Yelper Gary G. added: “This was a really interesting place. It is Korean BBQ and you can either grill your own or order from the menu. We chose to order from the menu. I had the spare ribs and they were great—very tasty and a little sweetness to it. ”

And David G. said: "This is probably the best Korean BBQ experience for me ever! The food is tasty and flavorful, the bang for buck ratio for the combo is awesome, and the service is outstanding!"

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Palmi Korean BBQ is open daily from 11am–11pm.
