A man was seriously injured in a shooting early Sunday morning in the Tenderloin, police have reported.

The incident occurred at 1:16am on the 600 block of Eddy Street when the victim, a 34-year-old man, got "involved in a large physical altercation between two groups of people" who had "various weapons," including a bat, a machete, and a gun.

During the fight, a male suspect of unknown age shot the victim before fleeing eastbound on Eddy Street and north on Larkin Street. The victim was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, and no arrests have been made in the case.
