A road rage altercation in the Oceanview district yesterday afternoon ended in a stabbing, police have reported.

In the incident, which took place at 1:13pm, a 53-year-old man who was in traffic behind a car driven by a 50-year-old man honked his horn before passing the other vehicle. After the victim stopped at a stop light, he exited his vehicle and got into a verbal altercation with the suspect.

At that point, the suspect, who remained in his car, struck the victim with a knife before driving away. No detailed description of the suspect or his car was available, and the victim transported himself to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone who has information about this incident is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.

Here’s why we usually don’t include suspect descriptions in crime reports.
