Duboce Triangle bar The Residence shut its doors earlier this year, but after several months, new owners are preparing to move in.

Justin Lew and Ian Scalzo, who also opened Horsefeather at 528 Divisadero St., have taken over the space.

When we checked in with Lew via email, he said there were "no updates as of yet," and that the duo are "still in the early stages of construction." A glimpse through the front door indicated that the bar and other furniture have been removed.

On September 29th, the Planning Department issued a permit for remodeling the space with an estimated cost of $125,000.

Although there are no details about the future of the space, the new owners have settled on a name. "Noble Savage" was listed on the liquor permit application, but "I can say the name will be 'Last Rites,'" Lew noted.

According to Planning documents, on August 3rd, the liquor permit's change of ownership was approved and another application for a change of ownership of the space with no change in use was opened at the beginning of September.

According to the permits, Last Rites will operate as a full-service restaurant and bar. No word yet on its official opening date.
