Here's a selection of crimes that have occurred in the area since our last roundup in early October. All reports were provided by the SFPD, unless otherwise noted. 

Fatal stabbing in Hayes Valley

On November 2nd, police found a man on Hayes Street between Franklin Street and Van Ness Avenue who was the victim of a fatal stabbing.

Four shot in Fillmore in running gun battle

On the 1100 block of Fillmore on October 27th at 7:25pm, four men, ages 24, 36, 23 and 47, were wounded by gunfire, with one of the victims receiving life-threatening injuries.

Hot prowl burglary through open window

On October 24th at 6:45am, a 41-year-old woman heard a noise in the living room on the 600 block of Buchanan Street.

Later, she also noticed that the window was open and she was missing sunglasses, a laptop, a camera, a computer bag, a wallet, credit cards, an ID, as well as currency. She did not see who took her items.

Man punched during backpack robbery

On October 17th at 6:40pm, a 24-year-old man was walking westbound on McAllister Street near Gough when a 20- to 25-year-old man came up behind him and tried to pull his backpack off. The victim then tried to shake the suspect off, but got punched with a fist instead.

The suspect then grabbed the backpack and fled northbound on Gough Street. Inside the backpack was a laptop, U.S. dollars as well as euros and credit cards. 

Shots fired from vehicles

Officers responded to shots fired near Webster and Grove streets on October 14th at 3:07pm.

Witnesses saw vehicles drive by and heard the shots. Although police found bullet casings, no injuries were reported, and the suspect or suspects remain unknown.

Laptop stolen at gunpoint

A robbery occurred on October 11th at 7:50pm at Webster and Page streets. A 31-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man were walking down the street when a 20-year-old man approached, pointed a gun at the woman, and stole her laptop.

The suspect and a second 20-year-old man fled in a vehicle southbound on Webster Street.

Public safety meeting

Neighbors are also encouraged to join the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association's public safety meeting on November 7th at 315 Linden St. (and Gough). On the meeting agenda are crimes against businesses and non-profit groups.
