A man who was stabbed in an attack by a large group of people near San Francisco General Hospital early yesterday morning is now fighting for his life in a hospital.

According to police, the 37-year-old victim was approached by 10-15 males suspects near the intersection of Potrero and 24th streets at 5:50am. At that point, one or more suspects stabbed the victim multiple times with an unknown sharp object.

All of the suspects fled the scene; no detailed descriptions have been released, and none of the assailants have been arrested or identified. The victim was taken to a hospital so he could be treated for his injuries.

Anyone who has information about this incident is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.

Here’s why we usually don’t include suspect descriptions in crime reports.
