Here's a roundup of notable crimes reported in the Tenderloin since our last edition. All details are drawn from SFPD daily reports, unless otherwise noted. 

Victim flags down police after robbery

At approximately 11:55pm on December 14th, an 18-year-old man flagged down a police car driving northbound on Market Street near the intersection with 6th Street and pointed to a 27-year-old man who had just stolen his phone.

A brief chase ensued, but the police arrested the suspect and recovered the victim’s device.

Muni rider robbed by teen

A 46-year-old man was riding Muni around 7:00pm on December 14th near the intersection of Jones and McAllister streets when a male said to be 14 to 17 years old took his cell phone.

When the victim tried to get his phone back, the suspect punched him and fled the scene.

Man punched by two robbers

A 29-year-old man was walking on Market Street near the intersection with Jones around noon on December 12th when he was approached by two men said to be in their twenties, who punched him until he fell to the ground.

The suspects stole the victim’s money, fled, and have not been identified.

Late-night armed robbery

Around 1:30am on December 11th, a 34-year-old man and a man in his late twenties were walking near the intersection of Market and 5th streets when a man said to be in his early fifties asked them for money.

The suspect then held a gun to the older man’s head and demanded his wallet. Both victims surrendered their wallets and phones to the suspect, who has not been arrested.

Man punched from behind, robbed by three men

On December 11th, a 40-year-old man walking east on Eddy Street near the intersection with Larkin around 12:40pm was punched from behind by a man said to be in his twenties.

The victim was knocked to the ground and two other, unknown suspects stole money from his pocket. The three suspects fled and have not been detained. 

Police arrest two suspects after stabbing

Two men, one 34 and one 30 years old, got into a fight with a 23-year-old man on the 200 block of Leavenworth (near Turk) around 2:30am on December 10th.

The older man pulled out a knife and stabbed the youngest man. Police arrived, located the two suspects, and took them into custody. The victim was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Six-on-one robbery in Halliday Plaza

Around 10:29pm on December 7th, six men said to be in their twenties approached a 22-year-old man in Halliday Plaza and stole his wallet. The suspects fled the scene, and no arrests have been made.

Three thieves steal woman's cellphone

A 43-year-old woman near the intersection of 11th and Market streets was approached by three men said to be in the 18-25 age range around 9:45pm on December 6th.

One of the men grabbed the woman’s cell phone from her hand before all three robbers fled southbound on 11th Street. The suspects have not been identified.

Man stabbed by unknown suspect

Around 1:53am on December 6th, a 30-year-old man was stabbed multiple times by an unknown male suspect near the intersection of Market and 5th streets. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. No arrest has been made.

Guitar player robbed by four men 

A 39-year-old man was sitting outside on the 1700 block of Market Street playing his guitar on December 5th just after midnight when four unknown male suspects attacked him.

The suspects stole the man’s guitar, headphones and wallet before fleeing the scene. None of the suspects have been identified.

Fire investigation suggests arson 

Officers from Tenderloin Station and the San Francisco Fire Department responded to multiple small fires in the neighborhood between 3:50am and 4:50am on December 5th. The investigators determined the fires were all set purposely, but have not identified any arsonist(s).

Man flees after being robbed by three suspects 

A 21-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint by two men said to be in their twenties and a woman in her thirties on the 800 block of Market Street (near Stockton) around 5:00pm on December 3rd.

The suspects stole the victim’s backpack, cell phone and wallet before the victim fled the scene and police was notified. No arrest has been made.
